Nibali whinging a bit there. A Liiquigas win is more important than a couple of bonus seconds.

Lastras would have taken the first place so the best he could have done was second. Sagan taking the win was far enough IMO. Not sure what the Liquigas rider was doing coming third though

I'd like to be a fly on the wall of the Liquigas bus on the way to the hotel...

i thought Sagan was just holding back, but when Lastras was going to win he made sure leekigas Won the stage. Nibali no right to whine IMO

Agnoli shouldn't've outsprinted him for 3rd place though, that's just crazy!

Yeah, Nibali is not a cert to win against Lastras, so you have give Sagan the nod to go for it. If Nibs is annoyed, it should be with Agnoli, not Sagan.

Wiggins was the only Sky rider in any of the lead groups. Lovkvist was second best on his own at 2.19

EDIT: Although Lovkvist was with him over the top of the climb.

Second edit: Possoni has now appeared in the results at 2.19 back as well.

Froome was in the Wiggins group.
Matt and Ned are wondering aloud why Wiggins slipped from comfortable at the front of the peloton to comfortable at the back. Did he finish on his own bike? Lovkvist losing 2:19 is compatible with a bike donation.

True, looks like some people were missed out on the earlier results.

Sounds like it. Am not sure it was Lovkvist with him over the top actually just assumed it was as he was the only Sky near the front group

Looking back at the replays there was already a sizeable split about 15 riders back towards the bottom of the mountain. Then coming down the last few bends the gap between 5th and 6th just grew enough that the 6th place guy was out of the slipstream on the long straight, not sure who that was.

He hit a kid who ran out trying to pick up a bottle-real nasty smash, the pic I saw showed his front wheel ripped off and him heading for a very hard landing. The kid was taken to hospital but isn't hurt too bad. Bad race for Arvensen :?

Nibali was initially angry that Sagan sprinted to victory, blocking him from taking any of the time bonuses. But Sagan’s acceleration stopped Pablo Lastras (Movistar) from snatching the stage win and so saved the Liquigas-Cannondale team from an embarrassing defeat, having four of the five leading riders.

“We did a great job as a team. It wasn’t our tactic (for the stage) but fortunately it came off,” Sagan said. “It would have been better if Vincenzo (Nibali) had won but it was better that a Liquigas-Cannondale rider won rather than Lastras.”

Nieve from Euskaltel is in 12th on GC and is an excellent climber. Doubt he has a good TT though.
