So, a downhill prologue in Colorado.

I wonder if they will have any bermed or rocky singletrack sections.

Wow, it has spectators. Enthusiastic spectators. Unlike the Vuelta.

yea was on last night.. It was a bit weird. They had those tracking image things they use in nascar racing. Would be pretty cool if they could get it to work for a few riders in a break etc..

Live every night at 21:00 - 23:00 hrs. Probably a highlights programme the following day.

It's being broadcast live, mostly on Eurosport 2, so a couple of hours from around 9pm here all week.

How do they decide the most aggressive rider award in the prologue??

Boardman would have won it in 1995 TDF opener maybe?

The same way they do in the Tour?

Pick the guy who is locally popular and screw the rest.

but doesn't the local pro have do a suicidal break or be in a few moves to get the partial local judge to award the local. I can't see where a short TT allows that

But there were no suicidal breaks - ergo the local favourite gets the prize.

Even if you get into a suicidal Tour break, if you're not French, you're going to have to put in a special ride to get the red number.

Exactly. Hoogerland and Flecha had to arrange to get knocked over by a car to stop Tommy V getting the number on the road to Saint- Flour

The finale best be good today coz its desperately boring so far..
  • Was a bit dull until 4kms to go. I would like to have seen Leipheimer win like that in a European race.

The Vail TT stage provides a little era comparison to 1987..1500ft, 16km. Andy Hampsten held the course record of 26:33.43 set during the 1987 Coors Classic until Ben Day broke it at the 2008 Teva Mountain Games with a ride of 25:48, which is also when Chris Baldwin rode the course in 26:29.
    then

there was a big crash with basso involved. Two riders stayed down on the deck and one of them looked pretty nasty.. No idea on the name of the riders or the teams..

Danger of bear attack? WTF

I think they've misunderstood the concept of attacking racing

This race will die a death. They Cannot get tv coverage to work. Absolutely pathetic.

    +1
Appaling coverage. Does not bode well for the race does it?
    Was not great yesterday either.
Actually feel sorry for Carlton Kirby (who normally annoys the c**p out of me) and Brian Smith having to keep commentary going.

Even the Italians are better than this.

Why do they bother if they can't do a proper job? Wasn't quite as dull today either.
