32 TALAS 120/150 Fit or FOX 32 F120 FIT RL

I am about to by my first and probably only Mountain bike. I cant decide over the Canyon XC7 or the CANYON AM6. they are virtually the same frame and kit except for the forks.

I ride mainly open trails but wish to venture somewhere steeper than east anglia when i get the chance.

Is the TALAS fork a better long term choice or would it be hard work riding my regular trails

    do you want an XC bike or an AM bike.

    the fork has very little to do with anything as you are not looking at Apples but an Apple and an Orange.

    The am 6 weighs 2lb more than the xc7 also.

    The xc 7 has better brakes but also has more xc oriented rims.

    The xc 7 has light 2.23 nobby nic tyre's, the am 6 has bigger 2.4's

    The xc 7 had an xc saddle.


    Like Nicklouse says, do you want an xc or am bike?

    Neither are the better all rounder, either one has a slight compromise however both will still do the same job.

    So for UK trails you could say they're both all rounders.

    How do you define aggressive downhill?

    Would XC and AM only be suitable for UK and the liikes of swiss alps ?

    I'm riding an AM7. My impression is that it is really a slightly burlier, longer travel XC bike, which is just perfect for me and my riding. It's just as happy pootling round the Peak as it is doing gnarly downhill, although a proper full-on AM bike like a Trek Remedy it is not. It climbs well, and the rear end is impressively bob-free.

    My gf has an XC5, and it's a lovely bike, but if you're only going to own one bike and you like riding the rougher trail centres and natural trails, I would go for the AM.
    1994 Clark Kent F12; 2004 Mount Vision; 2011 Canyon AM 7, 2012 Canyon Torque FRX 6, a unicycle and a Brompton.
