Hi,

I'm after a guide or assistance in servicing (quick internal clean) of my 2008 DHX air shock. I'm stumped as I can't even undo the can for a start. Any advice welcome.

Thanks!

I may be wrong but i did'nt think it was possible to do a home service on a DHX due to the pressure involved.

have a read of the info on the Fox webby,

guess you are just wanting an Air can service

Wow, I'll note that and also see what others say. I thought I'd be able to unscrew the can like I used to on my standard Fload shock and give the seals a bit of TLC with a cloth and drop of oil.

    Cheers

As Nick said, use a strap wrench. They can be very tight if haven't been removed for a while.
Deflate the aircan slowly using a shockpump, if you let it out too fast the shock can stick down and then if you try and pull the aircan off it can shoot apart suddenly.
If it sticks down, pump up again and release air slower.
    Hope that makes sense.

Got it opened and cleaned. Feels like the oil could do with changing which might be a Mojo job. Will get fome sus fluid and stick it back on the Reigh and see what happens - when my forks come back from from their service.

One more thing. Not having any Fox Float fluid, does anyone know the weight of the little sachet of oil used in the rear shocks or a suitable replacement? I have 5 & 8wt oil, but would rather play it safe.

float fluid is a very thick oil (80wtish) i would be looking at some "slick honey" fork grease if I did not have any float fluid about.

Nice one. I have some thick tractor grease, but have a feeling I should get some float fluid. Saw some on EBay for £1.50. Lovely
