I don't think I've ever owned a pair of mitts that have had knuckle protection!

Most modern mitts seem to be getting more and more flimsy. Do any of the recommendations in this thread actually protect your knuckles and palms when you come off?

My Specialised ones did an ok job of the palm but a crap job or protecting my knuckles a couple of years back.

    Right. Cue the derision........

I have Rapha Grand Tour mitts. Yes they are expensive and probably over priced but they are also the best. Back to the question.

I had an off last year where I damaged my bike, broke a collar bone, various scarring on shins, knees, hip and elbow. My helmet had to be replaced.
I broke my collar bone because I took most of the initial impact with my hand.
Damage to the hands? A little knick to my pinkie joint.
Damage to the mitts? A little light scuffing. That more than confirmed my decision to buy.

If you can't afford them or can't justify them to yourself far less anyone else fair enough but it is my experience and recommendation to those that can comfortably afford them.
None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.

My endura mighty mitts have seen a couple of years of daily riding (except for in winter) and they're still in great shape. Feel very solid and hard wearing.
