Hope brakes/Fox forks clearance issue.

Just got this bike at the weekend (new to me) and noticed that the front rotor runs very very close to the post mount for the caliper. So close in fact that during the previous ownership the two surfaces have come together some how (possibly mud/grit stuck there?) and a slither of metal has been shaved off both the fork lowers and the disc.

I estimate the distance is no more more than 1.5mm, even all round the disc so not warped bearing in mind the post mount has been 'shaved'

Is this normal? Im new to Fox forks (i'm an RS man!) but i know hope brakes and ive not seen this before, It all works well with no ill effects. The rotor is fitted to the hub correctly.

Hope 183mm rotor, Fox Float 32's circa 2009 and Woodman hub.

Anything to worry about? Your thoughts would be appreciated.

    yep known issue.

bin the floaters is the only real solution. or run as is and dont worry.

    I shouldnt worry about it
i have heard that floating hope discs get close to fox posts
its only a shave and wont make any structural difference .

Also happens on a few Marzocchi 20mm-axle forks. But not with Hope ProII hubs.

1.5mm clearance would be a miracle

Thanks guys, thats good news. I was quite alarmed when I first noticed it.

It all seems to work ok so ill leave it as is.

    Thanks again.
