I find carrying a change of shoes to work a pain and they take up valuable space in my bag.

Im after a pair of SPD shoes for commuting in good-ish weather. I want them to be smart enough to wear to work and have a recessed SPD fixing plate so I can walk on wooden floors without scraping them.

Does such a shoe exist? If you know of one - please post a link.

Am I just better off changing shoes at work?

My SPD cleats are recessed (Shimano MT42), but they still seem to grind on the floor when I walk.
Leave shoes at work, you'll want them when it rains or when roads are wet.

My SPDs also stink to high heaven, mainly due to those days where its a bit damp on the roads

I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.

I was thinking on something like this

I burn trainers out like no tomorrow and would get away with them at work too. Just the price however, nice though.

I just take my shoes to work with me currently, don't think I can get away with gold spd's clunking about here and there haha.

This. Although work colleagues who didn't know I cycle in have variously asked:

Do you really only have one pair of shoes?
Do you really like those shoes so much?
Is it true you only ever buy the exact same pair of shoes and have a stash of them under your bed to last a lifetime?
