Hi

I've been looking around on the internet for some time now but I can't seem to find a supplier stocking chainrings at a reasonable price. I have a tiagra crankset with worn out chainrings (52, 42, 30). Does anyone know where I can buy chainrings in these sizes, the cheapest i've found so far is around £31. Is this as cheap as it gets?

Cheers

I always use spacycles for chain rings.

I too was thinking Spa. Was away finding some links:

    Inner ring £9

    middle ring £10

    outer ring £14

(this assumes the 2 outer rings are 130mm BCD and the inner is 74)

    Hi

    Thanks for your replies.
I've just uploaded some photos of my chainrings/cassette (I struggled to get decent ones but hopefully they can show something). Although it looks grotty I am not so sure about the wear of the cassette. Looking at the chain rings however the biggest one is clearly well worn but could I get away with the other two (they do seem a bit rusted)? As I can buy individual chain rings from spa cycles maybe I could just replace some of the components. Or as I am buying a new chain etc. is it not worth thinking about - should I just renew everything to ensure nothing is damaged?

Photos: (The small chainring has been unfastened)

    Thanks again

You can't usually tell just by looking at a cassette whether it's worn, but yours looks completely knackered. If you put a new chain on that it's going to skip like a wallaby on amphetamines.

Two biggest chainrings are also overdue for replacement, and if you replace them you'll also want a nice shiny inner ring to go with them.

So I'd say you need cassette, chain and all 3 chainrings.

Looks like you've really had your money's worth out of the originals

Thanks. I think, as you say, it might be best to buy all new components to save damaging anything. I bought the bike parts not working hoping to fix the gears on a bike which is otherwise in reasonable condition so yes the original owner certainly got his monies worth :)
