Old SLX or budget new frame?

Hi, would be grateful for any opinions

After about 20 years of being a mostly armchair cyclist without regular riding tho light touring at times, I'm finally getting out regularly and starting to enter sportives/ audax.

I've had a Ribble SLX 56cm frame for years. Tight angles with almost zero clearance- just managed to use it with 25mm tyres in past. Still using original 105 chainset but with 172.5mm cranks gives me toe overlap max 1.5cm- not helpful.

Not sure how this frame might compare to modestly priced new alternative? Can't afford to spend hundreds on a new one. Probably only method is to get more experienced riders to try it and comment...

Depend on what kind of riding you enjoy. As long as you're not pushing the bike really hard or expecting lightning fast response to pedal input, there's a lot to be said for a classic steel frames for relaxed riding.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
