Good Morning all,

A friend of mine has been offered a 2nd hand Orbea Asphalt. Here is the bike in question http://www.singletrackworld.com/forum/t ... -road-bike

He is willing to sell for £350 but I still think this is over priced give the spec and age. I can't find any reviews or info about the bike online so I presume it must be many years old.

What are your opinions? Was it a good bike and frame back in the day?

Thanks
Shaw

Back in the day??? It's only 3 years old!

It's a great bike for £350. Tell him to rip his hand off.

Either that or I'm having it for my son.

First thing is to make sure it's the right size.

Price seems about right to me.

"Asphalt" is just the name of the frame not the bike (it's been replaced with the essentially identical Aqua now). The version with the R500 wheels and 105 groupset was called the Gavia.

It's still hard to find reviews even armed with the right name though. FWIW I love mine and I think £325 for that bike is a good price. You don't need to second guess the age - it is 2008 as it says on the ad. The catalogue from "back in the day" is archived here: http://www.scribd.com/doc/15850894/Catalogo-Orbea-2008

Thanks all for the help and advice. Unfortunately he sold the bike today for asking price before my friend could get there.

I have told my friend to keep an eye on here for a bike
