Tonights weather

Keen to avoid a "Michael Fish Incident" the forecaster general concensus for tonight seems to be thunder, lightening, tornadoes, hurricanes, hailstones, plague of frogs, hell & damnation.

Does anyone fancy popping out for a ride?

Think it's going to be one of those binary weather conditions this evening.

    0 - sunny and warm
    1 - biblical rain

Chances of the former: quite high. Which will be absolutely no consolation when I (and my brand new shoes) get utterly soaked on the way home.

I've just had a squint at Rain Radar and it's all coming up from the South West at the moment (we're getting a whiff of Brest here in South Wales). Doesn't look too bad - I reckon this evening should be OK. (famous last words).

Just my bloody luck. Tonight is a rescheduled washed out 20/20 cricket match that will probably now end up another washout. At least Thursday nights can't be washed out as it is played indoors :)

Doomed, Doomed I tells ya, Armageddon outa here.

Gaping pits shall appear in the firmament, and creeping things shall issue therefrom, and great serpents shall arise from the vasty deeps. The wheat will be separated from the chaff, as the righteous from the sinners, and the sinners shall be cast into the uttermost fiery pit of hell. The sea shall rise up to cover the land, and there will be a mighty wailing and a gnashing of teeth.....

An' I'm not lookin' forward to the journey 'ome, neither (who remembers Old Bob now?).

Rain radar not looking too bad in Cardiff just now, but sky has gone very dark and there is a spooky lack of birdsong. Looks like Bristol is copping it big time though. The large area of exposed limestone pavement on the tops of the Mendips heats up and often kicks of thunderstorms in that part of the world.

Everyone in the office was forecasting (with WAY too much glee) that I was going to get soaked on the way home tonight.

I pointed out (quite reasonably I thought):
They can all get fecked I was going to get soaked whether it rained or not I don't give a flying fig - it's fun

As it turned out. I could count the raindrops - although the huge black cloud I could see on the horizon was worryingly close but it went further away as I got closer to home. 8)

Wish it would get on with it and rain - I'm gently sweating even when sitting still. Not used to this, feels more like SE Asia than the UK

Well, it was a positively toasty 13 degC on my commute home, and about half way the heavens burst open in epic biblical style.

Today's ride has now gone straight in at No. 1 on the "wettest ever rides" chart.

Well it was a massive anti climax in London Town. Not a single drop of rain or so much as a frog's leg.

I was really looking fwd to the ride home last night, love a bit of heat.

Got changed, walked to the bike, clipped the pannier on, went to ride off...front tyre (Durano)...soft. Only soft, so pumped up by hand to about 60 and rode off fingers crossed. 2 miles down the road...flat. Bugger. Already sweating, I changed the front tube by which time I was dripping. Connect the CO2 to save time, 2 seconds later the tyre was rock hard....but it blew the bead off the rim where I hadn't seated it properly. Bugger. Let CO2 out, reseated bead and pumped up by hand (opnly carry one cannister). By now I was sweating like a pig and didn't really cool down over the next 15 miles. Got home feeling rather uncomfortable...better than driving though!

I was just pulling my shorts on for my ride in this morning when the wife warned me of tornados and flash flooding, so I decided I'd drive instead.

It doesn't look too scary at the minute out there so I'm a bit peed off. It'd better chuck it down before I get home or I'll have the right arse with her!

If you're in Windsor, you might be in luck. My cat has just come in clutching a few bits of timber muttering something about an 'ark'...

We're in Reading, so it's probably heading your way...
