Im 6ft 2" ish

Too small ? I Understand CX to be bigger than roadies and I normally ride a 58cm

Would a longer and higher angle stem help

I'd expect that to be on the small side. Can't you try it? Look at the seatpost, if it's straight you could fit one with a bit of lay back.

I fit my fit body onto a 56cm Tricross single but I be a little less taller than you, 5'11". I bought a longer stem when I got my 56cm Allez but now have swapped back to the original stem now I've got a set of ITM CDB Wing bars on it.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Lots of people ride the wrong size bikes ;)
My Langster is a 58cm, I'm 5'10", no idea if it's the ideal size for me or whether a 56cm would have been better.

Maybe next investment is a bike fit? The amount of cycling you do and the amount your body will have shifted in the last couple of years it could be a worthwhile investment.

I have the 56cm Tricross and it's perfect for me at (JUST) 6'

You'd be best trying the 56 and 58 to check as it really depends on your personal body geometry

I would have thought that you should be looking at a 57 or perhaps a 58, but there's a lot you can tweak with stem length and seatpost height.

If it's a really good deal I'd go for the 56 and play with bits. A lot of the 'bike fit' stuff is bunkum in my opinion - as long as you're not massively out then face it, the important dimensions are between the three points of crank, hands and harris. All of which are easily tweaked with stem length/angle and seatpost height.

Don't expect the Singlecross to be particularly light. These things are built for strength first and weight second.

I always think of my Singlecross as being the worst of both worlds - the weight of a cheap road bike and the bad knees from a SS. Fun to ride, though.

could be OK with a long stem (<110mm), but in any case you'll be starting to get into frog on matchbox territory: never a good look.

    Thanks

I rode my buddys Ridgeback Solo World, 56CM, Last night and actually, it felt fine (and I just jumped off my 60cm carbon roadie) but I do think , considering what I intend doing, i'll wait for a 58cm to come along

    i'm about 6 2 and have a 58 tricross and a 56 singlecross

sometimes the 56 does seem a bit small but the 58 always seems 2 big.

everybodys different. i ride my 56 every day and am more than happy with it for my commute.

smaller frame will change cycling geometry and steerability - not necessarily "wrong" but might look odd.

I'm 6'2" and commute every day on a 56cm Tricross and it fits me perfectly.

I tried both the 56 and the 58 before buying and found the 58 seemed to be at least 2 sizes bigger for some reason - very very stretched out position. You have to try before deciding even if it means visiting your local Spesh dealer for a sneaky 'fitting' session.

As a comparison with relation to geometry - I also tried a 56cm Allez which just felt like a kids bike - it was tiny  Sort of proves your thoughts on the CX bike being slightly 'larger'.

There is quite a lot of adjustment in the stem already due to the inserts provide (-16 to +16 degrees) so don't rule out a 56cm until you try it - you may be surprised!!!
