Good Afternoon One and All,

My name is Warren, 25 years old and commute to work everyday.

I currently own a 2007 GT Legacy, and have been using it on and off for four years now. However due to the purchase of a house, for the past 18 months it has become my only mode of transport, which isn't all bad!

Unfortunately I think the GT is now struggling with everyday riding (7 miles each way) so instead of repairing often I have decided to buy a new steed, through work's cycle scheme of course.

I am looking for any advice on what to buy. I'm currently looking at road and hybrids, I like a flat bar so that i can see a bit more traffic, and have fallen in love with the Specialized Sirrus, however, I am concerned that this will not hold up against the part of my commute that in volves potholes and tree roots.

Which is why i'm tempted for another hybrid. But whats food for under £499?

Any advice is welcome.

Thanks

Tegglington!

most hybrids are tough enough to stand a few roots and potholes.

I've always liked the Cannondale fat boys - bit above your budget, but you'd get one second hand for that price.
