I really wouldn't. The main road from Grenoble to Bourg is boring, the scenery is ugly, and the traffic heavy.

Get a ride out to Siccilienne if you can, then climb up to the Col de la Morte, down to Valbonnais, over the Col d'Ornon to Bourg, up the Alpe then it's downhill all the way back to the start point. Only the last bit will be on a busy road and it will pass quickly.

Total ride about 140km - climbing? Loads. Scenery? Spectacular - particularly from De La Morte to Valbonnais.
