Don't want to spend loads £40-£70

needs to be casual looking and of use in mud etc, also any clues on fit, as I know some makes can come up big say (44 more like a 45)

any suggestions

Thanks in advance.

    SPD or flats?

For flats I'd say the Karrimor trail shoes in Sports direct, I had a pair and they were pretty good, waterproof, warm, grippy on and off the bike. And cheap!

I was wearing Karrimor shoes from sports direct when I had big off. The shoe was far too flexible. Result? Two broken dislocated toes. You need a stiff soled shoe with little flex. I've since bought some five tens impact 2.

I have a pair of shimano dx's. Good comfy shoe and easy to wipe clean after a muddy ride.

There's a pair on ebay just now that are cheap as chips.

I take a size 9 in most shoes and the 44 size fits perfectly.

Shimano AM45 (the new DX). The absolute canine's undercarraige.

I'd agree on the DX. Fantastic shoe for the money. Can't comment on the AM45s from experience, but they look like they'd be slightly warmer, which would make them better in winter at the expense of summer, obviously!

Yep same thing happened to me wearing merrells. Two very badly bruised toes, at least five weeks ago. Toes are still sore now. Now i wear shimano AM40s.

I like the DX#s and the AM45's style

What is Shimano's sizing like, I had a pair years ago and they where tight for my size?
