Vasectomy?

I expect there'll be plenty of smart comments ( ), but has anyone on here had a vasectomy, and if so, how long before they were back to normal and could ride (a bike) again?

I was advised not to cycle for 1 week. I was also told that it'd be uncomfortable for a while.
It wasn't uncomfortable at all so I was back on the bike 2 days later. No bother.
I did however notice a small lump under the stitches that slowly became larger. I saw my GP who gave me antibiotics and the lump dissapeared.
Best thing is I'd arranged a week off work to recover after the op and spent most of it out riding my bike0 -
A couple of weeks will probably be fine. Just take it gently for the day or so immediately after the op and you should be fine. The biggest question is when you're gonna use them again if you get my meaning.....It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.
I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result0 -
I was done 2 years ago and did'nt take the doctors advise, Had what they call a " Vass bleed" should'nt have gone off road in the first week as PURPLE NADS can look a bit scary for the first time  but clearded up after 3 weeksThe older i get the slower i am ! NAAAAA Dont think so !!!!!!!0

Thanks for all the advice.
It's not something I'm particularly looking forward to - I can think of better things to have between my legs rather than a needle and a knife!Hmm, I think if it goes back to normal, it's called a failed vasectomy
If I'm letting someone with a knife in that area, then it'd better bloody work, mate.0 -

Thanks, Hucking...that makes me feel a whole lot better now!

My next door neighbour had it done this week, non-invasive technique apparently??? Wish that was around a few years ago when I had mine done. The surgeon saying 'will you stay still, I've got a very sharp knife in my hand and I don't want to cut myself' didn't help either. It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

I cycled to the hospital for my vasectomy op and afterwards cycled home again it,s about 4 miles to the hospital and i had no problems at all.It was my son,s 4th birthday we had a very busy day and i suffered no effects at all. I live in the Netherlands and had spoken to my G.P. about this before going into hospital. It,s not the big deal i thought it might be.But i have heard some horror stories. I suppose i,m one of the lucky one,s.

Drove home after mine and was at gym the next day. Less hassle than a filling.
Only embarrassing bit was I had a trainee nurse 'observing'.I don't do smileys.

Ask for some sedation it will take your mind off the local anesthetic.0 -
i had mine done 6 months ago. four days after it i had a dishwasher emergency which was gushing water so i had to shift the dishwasher on my own to minimise flooding.
i suspect this contributed to the fact my gonads ached for 5 months. didnt stop cycling, in fact encased in lycra was least painful time. running down a flight of stairs, now that was different.....
generally, take doctors advice it;ll be fine...0 -
Good to hear that it's only a minor discomfort.
Thanks for all the advice and I'll be sure to post a picture of 'em when it's been done under the true spirit of 'pics, or it didn't happen'. :shock:0 -

At the pre-op ask for some of that magic numbing cream they gave me - you apply it a couple of hours before and i never felt a pr*ck (sorry - couldn't resist). Only downside is you have to wrap your 'bit's' in cling film as well (can't believe i'm saying this....)
I was fine within hours but didn't tell the wife that - i played on it for two days and got to lay on the couch being served food and alcohol whilst watching the ashes... :twisted:0 -
don't believe all the "doesn't hurt a bit" crap - I'm now convinced this is all part of some female conspiracy to get us to devalue our knackers.
had mine done last year and it bloody hurt.
Then I got an infection and that bloody hurt.
Then I had to keep filling pots for months as it didn't seem to have worked - kind of amusing at the time but now I've got the prospect of having to go back for more scalpel action.

Too true. Childbirth is nothing next to the agony of a vasectomy.
Think you must have had a cr4p doctor though.I don't do smileys.

I'm showing the wife this - I reckon by the time you lot have done I'll be able to forgo the op and get a new bike to lessen the stress caused by this.0

There is lots of fun to be had though as you are advised that it takes approx 30 ejaculations to clear any remaining sperm - probably the only time your other half will accept that pornography is acceptable unless she wants to 'help you out....'0

Completely put off the very thought by a mates horror story.
Had op, seemed to go ok. Couple of days later, infection set it. Balls swelled to the size of grapefruit  and he was on morphine for the pain. 3 months off work. 9 months before he could ride a bike again.
Oh, and it didn't work so he's back to square one. Bugger. Poor lad.You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.0 -
