Hi,

I have a road bike which i want to convert to a flat handlebar setup. I am concerned about the gears. The bike is currently running

Campagnolo Champ Triple 2008 9 speed front and rear derailleurs
Campagnolo Xenon 9 speed 2008 Ergopower brake/ gear levers
Stronglight Triple crank

I know that i need to purchase an older set of brake levers (non-V brake) to be compatible with the bikes road callipers but i am unsure which gear shifters to buy?

Will the derailleurs work with any 9 speed MTB shifters i could buy cheaply?
Would it be an option to remove the Campagnolo gear and fit MTB derailleurs to the road bike frame?

Any advice please?

Thanks in advance
:)

  • You will need campag flat bar shifters, your rear derailer wont index correctly with shimano or sram mtb shifters. Looks like they come attached to brake levers though so thats one less expense :-)
