My Caad is fitted with a Tiagra Chainset.
I now need to replace a chainring.
This seems a good time to upgrade to BB30
What would you do?
Buy a new chainring or upgrade to BB30?

  • I presume it's a CAAD 8 with Tiagra?

Wasn't aware this had a BB30 bottom bracket?

But does it have a BB30 BB? if not then there is no way of using a BB30 crankset.

I was under the impression there was a sleeve inside that could be removed to allow BB30 to fit
    Might this be right?

also is it an upgrade? you are limited to who does BB30.

if you can stretch to a BB30 chainset and your frame will accept one, then there's nothing to stop you doing it. But don't expect it to make much of a real world difference to your riding....

BB30 is just a diferent BB standard.

there are worse and better BB/crank assys in both BB30 and HT2/external BB set up than the tiagra cranks that you have now.

    Thanks
So if BB30 wont make a difference might Ultegra be a suitable alternative?
What is the weight difference on a Tiagra double compared to an Ultegra double?

The biggest difference you could make is replacing your worn chainrings with Q rings

pick the bike up and it might 'feel' lighter. Ride the bike, however, and you will notice sod-all difference....
