Wharncliffe XC exploring help

I'm just getting round to exploring Wharncliffe woods last couple of nights! I rode some of it a long time ago, but I wasn't really very fit, and it was quite muddy, so was initially put off. Now I'm finding that there's some awesome riding here, that gives a bit of a nice challenge. I don't know anyone that knows the place though, so have never talked to anyone about it. I only know where to look from downloading maps off the relevant websites.

I wonder if anyone can give me a bit of assistance with my exploring? i.e. give up trying to find that bit/it doesn't exist/its unrideable, or look harder, its wicked, or something like that! Also, if anyone could tell me about anywhere else I'm missing/need to see etc. that would be awesome. I'm XC style/used to trails/happy with it tricky. But not keen on flying off drops as far and fast as possible

With reference to this map:

Sections:
1-3: done ages ago
4: cannot find at all. seems to disappear and get lost in trees!
5-6: done last night
7: done today
8: started well, but in a different place to map (further N), then ended up lost in middle of woods heading out too far NW. are there multiple routes up here and I was on wrong one?
9: planned. any good?
10: planned. any good?
11: done last night
12-13: cannot find any evidence of. does it exist now?
14: done last night, but started/ended in different way, more like
http://www.wharncliffe.info/maps/recxc.pdf
15: done last night

Have also done couple of downhill bits, Fastrack, and the bit near Oughtibridge Hagg to the SE. Planning to do the top end of http://www.wharncliffe.info/maps/recxc.pdf next, up Wharncliffe Crags, and Dragon's Den. The top path at the start of section 8 looked nice.

Many thanks for any pointers people can give me, and a big thanks to anyone on here who was involved in building this stuff, its a shame politics is holding things back - but we'll save that for other threads!

It is lovely up there, better done early in the morning if possible. Some of the ramblers up there can have a nasty, stick waving attitude,(don't get me wrong most are nice and cheerful). The descent down to that little pond at the north end of the map can be VERY fast when there's been a good spell of dry weather.

My map reading may be wrong here, but if the start of that is a very rocky & fast descent, with a short steep & very rocky climb following then i suspect you missed a sharp left turn at the bottom of the descent[/quote]
