evening all, just after abit of info regarding the west country way. Looking at doing it over 4days and using my road cube peloton. Are there any changes I should make to the bike as it's a racing bike. Any general info regarding the route, where to stay etc is greatly appreciated.

The bits around Bridgwater and Taunton, when they stick to lanes are ok. The lanes are often flat with poor surfacing but one of the better ways to cross that part of the world.
The sections of Sustrans paths that follow the canals aren't so good. The canal side paths are shared with dog walkers, narrow, poorly surfaced and have obstacles designed to keep motorbikes off but which are a PitA for bikes.
Sustrans routes on Exmoor, near Dulverton generally follow lanes and have a lot of climbing
The road surfacing is often poor, with piles of gravel on steep descents
The roads are passable on a thin tyred road bike however, just don't expect it to be easy, fast or pleasant0
