Just received from a spiv, sorry recruitment consultant:
I am currently in an excellent position, recruiting for a truly magnificent company who are nestled in the leafy district of Southwark, right by the famous Tabard Inn, made famous by Chaucer in his Canterbury Tales. Home of the 'cockney', Southwark has recently been populated by trendy yuppies and digital media types who are seeking recourse from the absurdly overpriced properties in Central London. A promenade down Falmouth road gives one the feel of Post War England, Beautiful terraces juxtaposed by brutalist housing blocks roughly hewn in Beton Brut really give an interesting feel to the area.

The company is an award winning eBusiness consultancy that specialises in the design, implementation, integration and support of e Commerce websites and mobile commerce apps and solutions for multi channel retailing.The company are currently seeking a Front end developer to join their team. Skills required will be HTML, CSS, Javascript. Desirable would be experience with Jsp/JSTL, though this is not essential. Knowledge of HTML standards around accessibility would be desired, as would a good personality!

The company are experts at hiring, let's put it this way, they don't mess around. The interview process is abbreviated and, as they are seeking somebody immediately, you will be offered a job asap if your skill set is right. As the job is based in London, only those based in England, Scotland need apply. I would be greatful to receive an up to date version of your C.V as soon as possible if you feel your skill set matches the job.

Many Thanks

Bifel that in that season on a day,
In Southwerk at the Tabard as I lay
Redy to wenden on my pilgrymage
To Caunterbury with ful devout corage,
At nyght was come into that hostelrye
Wel nyne and twenty in a compaignye
Of sondry folk, by aventure yfalle
In felaweshipe, and pilgrimes were they alle,
That toward Caunterbury wolden ryde;
The chambres and the stables weren wyde,
And well we weren esed atte beste;

I suspect it's been mail-merged to a lot of people, as the salary is way below what I'd work for and the skillset not really appropriate either.

    Daily commute from Scotland would be a bit much - just think of all the tyres, chains and cassettes, and the uphill slog on the way home (tailwind though).

    A spellcheck on the Mailmerge may have been a good idea as well....

    Oooooh, get them with the fancy lingo! Beton Brut is it?

    In the pre-2008 building boom, architectural recruiters would just brazenly ring you in the middle of the day at work - on your work number - to see if you fancied jumping ship. Those days are a distant memory now.

    Got to ask.........

    Isn't that discriminating against the Welsh?
    None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.

    I did wonder why the Welsh were excluded! Show that to IDS when he says they should go somewhere where there are jobs. :lol:

    Here I am! Certainly an interesting job spec. Not sure about Southwark being "Home of the 'cockney'", that's Essex these days isnt it? Still, nice to inject a bit of history, culture and architectural appreciation into an ad...

    But in search in the IB world, we don't tend to work from anything as lowly as "job specs", (do you?) If someone asked me to email them a "spec" I'd send them a 2 liner and ask when they could speak on the phone or face 2 face. I do things by phone, not by email. And I certainly wouldn't approach a candidate by email....

    I keep getting the opposite - speculative CVs sent to me by agents and jobseekers. I responded to the first few, now they all just get deleted.

    When I was looking to move out of the South East, I had fun with some recruitment consultants. "I am working, so need two weeks notice and am not interested in anywhere South of Manchester".

    "I've arranged an interview for you in Basingstoke in two days time..."

    Mind you, the one that my current employer was using at the time, was switched on.

    Ah, didn't realise that the name was also your occupation. Investment banking you say? Interesting...

    Brief Google shows the job to be for a 28k developers job though, so it'll not be at the 'executive search' level, far more the ad in the paper level.
