If money didn't matter and you could have any bike in the world, what would you choose...?

My choice? maybe this...

If money was no object, I'd get a bike made to measure from unobtanium.

I think I'd get Mclaren to fine tune the design, but then I rate Mclaren as an engineering company and I get them to design my toilet seat if I could.

I'd have them all build a Velodrome, bmx track, mtb trails, road circuit etc and invite people round to play

Yeah, I had read that, which is what gave me the idea. Needs to be made from unobtanium though.

Colnago EPQ in custom size with Mapei paint.
    Di2/SRM
    Reynolds RZR wheels
An endless supply of Veloflex Carbon tubs with a team car following.

I'd also have a load of land and build an amazing trail centre on it. And a cycling circuit with options for a flat and a hilly circuit. And a velodrome.

I'd have one of these please. Made up with Super Record group, Campag Ultra Bora wheels, and Cinelli finishing kit.

In fact make it two, one for sundays. :D

I used to wonder about a colnago or the like - but I have a vitus with an ali frame and 105 that I built myself and this is all the bike I need

if money was no object I'd maybe get a new frame for my fixed commuter but that's it...

I'd build a time machine to go back and not crash so I still had my CAAD9 with 105 parts.
  • I'd buy a tandem and have Vicky Pendleton on the front !!!!! :P

    Can we fix it?
    Yes we can!

I'm amazed at the lack of taste on here - the amount of people who would buy some mass produced carbon bike when they could have anything! I'm not sure what I would opt for but definately hand-built, probably Italian and probably steel with a subtle paint job and graphics. Definately Super Record group but not sure on wheels as nearly all the best wheels seem to be overly gaudy these days. I would want something understated and classy!

Some people don't really look into the super expensive niche brands because, well, they wouldn't afford them anyway, so they go for the big flagship bikes they know!!

    I already have the frame.

Now. If only the other bits would break so that I would "have" to replace (ahem upgrade) them......

But done properly, i.e. without the dodgy frame snapping bottom bracket issue. I pefectly realise its not to everybodies taste, but then thats also the point of it. Maybe a version of it in carbon fibre to make a modern version of it...

+ Custom built for me steel frame singel speed roadie

+ Something retro thats had a proper restoration done on it, something like a mid 80's Peugeot, that kinda of era bike.

One of my clubmates had a Kirk back in the day. I think he may even still have it. As you say, not to everyone's taste but it was certainly a bit different and got people talking. Unfortunately at a time people were looking at new frame materials they put their eggs in the magnesium basket when everyone else went for carbon or Ti!

That Gios is very, very nice!

I don't think I could go back to downtube shifters though.

I would have employ a labful of chemists and technicians to make zero-hysteresis but grippy, low-pressure balloon tyres than would never puncture or even lose pressure.
