I've got Mark Beamont's The Man Who Cycled the Americas on back order with Amazon but have to wait till at least 14th May for it :(
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

After cheese, tax, tulips, wind and more tax you had better not come to the UK to read this summer as we have stopped having summers so there won't be any reading time.
If not then after cheese, tax, tulips, wind and more tax you need to read something a bit more uplifting than one of grumpy Dave's black acount of how he got dragged into the drug pit but after being caught has been reborn into just someone with a huge chip on the shoulder.

And yes I have met him. :?

If you want a great cycling read from the golden era try this....... http://www.tonyhewson.co.uk/tony-s-book ... of-stardom

Very well written and it should be as he became an English teacher after his cycling.days, Tony has a great sense of humour and it shows in his writing.

And yes I have met him.

I was actually in Folkstone for the day last week and had a wonderful time - a decent fry-up, glorious weather and I bought a great pair of trousers half price in Debenhams; maybe we should arrange some sort of exchange?!

Steve, not wanting to sound pedantic but were a way of officially 'summer time' our best 'seasonal' weather in recent years has been either side of what is commonly known as summer, or even worse just wait till the kids break up for 'summer hols' syndrome, the sale of umbrellas (for rain not sun) at seaside resorts rockets.

    Check out July 2007 here.... http://www.google.co.uk/images?q=tewksb ... 16&bih=601 fancy a caravan holiday here? :(

Just booked a holiday over Easter and I'm looking for some good reads. Any recommendations? Just finishing French Revolutions at the moment and considering Boy Racer as one possible purchase.

Loved French Revolutions, but am always bemused when somebody of Cav's age/experience thinks it's time to 'write' an autobiography :? Fair enough when the career is over, but this early it's just a bit of profiteering surely?

Would recommend Mark Beaumont's Man Who Cycled the World myself - would be interesting if that Cox geezer brought out a book, to compare how he did the trip quicker
