Polar strap - DIY battery replacement?

I suspect my HRM strap is on it's last legs and needs a new battery, as it divides it's time between reading, not reading at all, or reading incorrectly. Having to send the thing back to Polar is a bit of a PITA, so is it possible to do a DIY battery replacement? I have had it for a while so it's way out of warranty anyway.

Spose it depends on your strap, mine has a user friendly battery compartment (takes one of those coin sized batteries).

The performance of your HRM sounds like mine even after I've replaced both batteries. I've gone Garmin and am mightily pleased.

If it isn't coded, try to get a 2nd hand Sigma strap or such like, which will be compatible and will have a 2032 size battery and be reliable.

Agreed my Polar chest strap was crap (both of them), Garmin much better.
