    Why blame the land owner?

Damn that sucks, It was Rob (the bloke who was running this) that I bought my Hectik frame off, he was out in the digger working away when I called to make the payment.

because he would not let them build on it

    Didn't they ask before starting?

Well if they didn't have a signed agreement with the Landlord then they can't complain really!
  • Next to go....Corby bike/skate park.

I echo the sentiments above. If they didn't have an agreement to have the park there then their own fault. Too many people want a free lunch

They did have agreement of the land owner but I believe they weren't making enough to pay the rent.

Post last year from builder: - basically not enough people using it - too late to whinge now.

"unfortunately the management have warned me that Esher Shore is not covering its operating costs at the moment, and has not met these costs (rent and insurance) for the past season
rider attendance is down about 80% on previous seasons - the 2009 Esher Jam only had 38 riders turn up which was disappointing as the Bike Park lost money that day..
unless riders start using the Esher Shore (north shore) bike park, and the Esher Pump Track, the park will close in Spring 2011
its basically up to you guys??
if you want to support the park, then come and ride, and tell your friends!!
if you don't want to ride at Esher any more, its going to close next season, simple as that?
    thanks for reading

There was a bike park there already (Esher Shore), it was literally demolished only a few months ago and they started work straight away on the replacement.

My guess is they had all the permission at the start but the land owner got a better offer from somewhere else before the Freeborn boys got a chance to sign anything binding... but thats just my guess, I dont know what goes on in building a bike park.

    EDIT: Sniped

So pointless to blame the land owner.

Yup, seems like there just wasn't the demand for the old park any more and the new one's never going to get a chance to see if it would have worked, the revamp seemed a wee bit desperate tbh. A real shame. I think Rob Cole posts on here sometimes? Hope they can find another project suitable for their skills and drive.
