Hi just building a bike up for my daughter its gonna be based around a 13 inch merlin malt frame as i know this will fit her (i built her mom one!), only problem is what forks to go for dont want anything to awesome just yet reba etc.
Been looking at the recons on merlin and also the toras both around the 120 mark which would be best?.
Im going towards the toras because i can reduce down to 80mm? just a little worried they will be to firm for her any opinions?

The rider weight would be my main worry. I'd go for an air shock so you can customise the ride to her weight. Think you need dual air else the other half is set by a spring.

The caveat with that is that an air fork might not be very plush with such a low rider weight.
But, of course, do they even make coil springs that light for them?

Unless you want to start mucking about with springs, I would go for an air fork, Tora's are pretty good and they run fine on lower pressure settings.

Personally I wouldn't reduce the travel, just increase the sag.
