Full Mudguards, MTB, 26" wheel and not eyelets

Hello,
for a number of commuting reasons there is no better than the full mudguard. where my bike fails is it does not have rear eyelets. with it having a steel frame the rear stays are very thin and pclips rattle away.
again i'm looking to purchase a second set after the first ones died slightly due to this reason. so for a rhobust fit is there any reccomendations out there. its a 2004 salsa ala carte frame, 18" for reference.

Purchase any p-clips (lbs are good for these) and pack them out to size with electrical tape or the rubber shims that come with lights (again lbs)
Your lbs might also have a few different sized p-clips so you can get shorter ones.0 -
P clips come in several sizes. You need smaller ones.

thanks guys, i know i may encounter some rear wheel problems but thanks to the link above i've got a hack idea going on in my head now

Pieces of old inner tube are VERY good for packing out around narrower tubes to make a larger diameter. Just a tip.Life is like a roll of toilet paper; long and useful, but always ends at the wrong moment. Anon.

Visit a framebuilder and have a couple of 'barrel' fixings brazed on at the bottom of the seatstays. Minimal amount of paint will need removing. Cost: about £10.0
