I am considering buying a Carrera Gryphon (http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_272611_langId_-1_categoryId_165534) which has the SRAM X5 gear set.

At some point I would like to upgrade the wheels to handbuilt ones from spa cycles (http://www.spacycles.co.uk/products.php?plid=m2b0s176p0). What I would like to know is whether these wheels that have shimano hubs would be compatible with the Carrera Gryphon?

What if I got the version with disc brakes?

Cheers

sram and shimano use the same spline patten on the free body.

sram and shimano cassettes are also fully interchangeable (as long as you keep the speeds the same).

  • Thanks for the rapid response that's great. Now the dumbo question: If you have disc breaks do you need to have a special hub to fit the discs onto?
