I have a campag veloce 53/42 chainset

Can i replace the 42 inner chainring with a 39?

Are there some campag veloce chainsets that will only take a 42 inner ring or will they all attake a 39?

Help :?

    They will all take a 39 inner ring. I am not sure of the availability of 'exact matching Campag chainrings', but there are others on the market.

    The bike's a bit of a mix of stuff but seems to run fine.. Shimano 9 speed cassette, Campag veloce chainset, Ultegra 9 speed shifters, Campag record front mech, Shimano chain (I presume).

    Is it normal for campag shimano to work in such harmony?

    11/23 at the back and 53/42 at the front, Gears to big as its my girlfriends winter training bike.

    Your front mech should be causing trouble, but if it isn't, just leave it.
