Budget road racer choice? Advice needed please!

I have shortlisted two ultra-budget road racers for my first drop-handled road bike.

Vitesse Sprint (currently in stock elsewhere for £180)
Viking Sprint (currently available at around £160)

It's ok, I am under no illusion as to the less than optimum build quality which is likely to be present. I just want something cheap and cheerful to get me started. I would intend to de-sticker either.

Based on the similar price of each, which would be the better buy for the price?

Thank you.

Viking sounds more manly, go for that one.

    Buy secondhand at that price.

I bought a secondhand GT bike for the winter off eBay for £150 and it is specced out with Shimano Sora & Alex rims (which is likely to be better than those on the links)

  • Could you stretch to £300? If so, I can heartily recommend the B'twin Sport 1. If not, I'd probably go 2nd hand as well - for me, at least, brifters were an absolute must-have...
