Hi guys. I need to replace the chain rings on my Bontrager crankset. I don't know the model name, but it came with my 2001 Gary Fisher Big Sur, so it's probably a 2000 or 2001 model.

I bought a Shimano FC-M760 32T middle chain ring, but the shifting "bulges" are too wide so the chain gets stuck when on the granny ring. I believe the old middle chain ring was a Shimano Deore. Can anyone tell me which brands and models of chain rings will work on the Bontrager crankset, especially the middle chain ring? Thanks a lot!

you have fitted the ring correctly?

    lined up the dimples.

Thanks for the input Nick. It's a good point, but the rings are aligned correctly, with dimples aligned with the crank arm on all three rings.

I've read elsewhere that there are sometimes problems with Shimano rings on other cranksets.
