Anyone had problems with water getting into their GARMIN 705

Personaly i havnt had any problems but if im on a ride and it starts raining i take it off and put it in my pocket.
OR:
If rain is forcast then i take a plastic sandwich bag out with me.
If it starts raining i put it in the bag and then in my pocket.

Just wandered if anyone had ever had problems with water getting into the Edge 705?

Just something to thnk about.

As for the speed and cadance sensor (GSC 10?), thats had alot of water on it and survived. Would the edge survive?

    No need to worry.

    They're water proof to IXP7 which basicly means they're designed to withstand being 1 meter underwater for 30 mins.

    So i can just keep it clipped to the stem? Even in the rain?

    So more opinions would be useful.

    Are you for real? You seriously put your 705 in your pocket if it rains? Wouldn't you be better carrying an umbrella?
    More problems but still living....

    IPX-7 Waterproof Standard

    Puddle, stream, beer cooler and splash rated - Protected against water immersion - Immersion for 30 minutes at a depth of 1 meter.


    I have had my GPS units out in the driving rain for hours and have dropped them in muddy puddles without issue on the IPX7 standard. I like it and it works for almost anything you can throw at it on a typical day.... except dropping it overboard on a boat..... and luckily that hasn't happened.

    Yeah it's waterproof, there's no need to put it in your pocket. I don't think they'd be so stupid as to release a product meant for use in the outdoors that wasn't waterproof!

    mine has seen rain, mud and been in puddles. still going strong.

    mine no longer has the little rubber cover over the usb port and it still works 100% @ 2yrs'ish old.

    I find it stops reading elevation properly if it gets soaked, but that's a known issue and it's fine again when it dries out.

    I'd be more worried about the GSC10 in the wet tbh!

    IPX7 = awesome! Im stiull going to be carfull though. Just dont like the idea of it drowning.!

    On a really wet ride ive found the altitude reading goes way off on my 305 because the tiny holes on the underside it uses to read air pressure have got blocked up,perhaps the 705 has an improved design so avoids this problem.

    Submerged mine in a river for a couple of minutes, it still worked ok but started getting condensation under the screen.

    I think ill just wrap some cling film around it if it gets realy heavy. That should help protect it a little.?

    my 705 went through the washing machine o a full cycle and came out clean and shiny and in perfect order :D

    My 305 also went for a clean in the washing machine and it still works perfectly :)

    Lol, do you wrap your brakes in cling film if it rains?

    It's an outdoor gps - it's meant to be used in the rain!

    A mate of mine put his in his pocket after a ride and forgot it was in there when washed the top. If survived a 30 degree wash with no problems.

    I have a 705 and am finding it is switching itself off during a ride for no reason and with no warning, battery is fully charged.

    Water got into my 305 after a very wet ride.The rubber seals around the buttons on the side of the unit are worn so expext that's where it got in.I dried it out slowly over a couple of days&it works fine now.I've coverd it with shrink wrap,looks tidy&it'll keep the rain out.
