Where to ride off road near north London

I have moved from the Midlands to north west London and was wondering what the best options for off road riding are? I have been out to Thetford Forest and Woburn Sands but both of them a quite a long way to drive - is there anything nearer? It does not need to be anything amazing, just somewhere off road where I can go to get some exercise in between trips to Wales and Cannock/Sherwood. Thanks!

    There is apparently stuff in the Chilterns... though whether thats close enough to you depends on where in north London you are I guess...

    Surrey Hills or Swinley? Not right on your doorstep but Swinley prob not more than half an hour or so...

    I live in kinda NWest and it takes me 40 minutes to drive to Swinley, or 1 hour to Surrey Hills. Woburn sands, Aston hill etc are good too but peeps in our group preffer variety you see. Check THIS thread and see if peeps go to Swinley, there you really would like to be shown around.
