Garmin Turbo Stats - analysis....

milesemilese Posts: 1,233
Here's the stats from my last go on the turbo, done to sufferfest Angels.

http://connect.garmin.com/activity/61189749

The routine is, with varying efforts during the climbs, but generally climbing at 7-8 RPE.

6:30 warm up
10:00 1 minute over / unders
3:00 rest
8:00 Climb
4:00 Rest
8:00 Climb
4:00 Rest
8:00 Climb
4:00 Warm down

When I finish the final climb I'm pretty knackered, but afterwards feel ok with no aches etc, after I would from a longer ride at a lower intensity.

Do my heart rates match what you'd expect from this workout? My max is 182 so 160bpm is 88%, 150bpm is 82% etc.

I've been doing a mixture of Angles, Downward Spiral and The Hunted, do you think these are structured enough to base a lot of my training on? I've read Peter Reeds 'blue book' on turbo training and the sessions suggested seem to be a lot more structured, but i'm much more likely to stick to sessions with a video - am I losing out?

I'm primarily training for 4th Cat road racing, and have been doing 2 turbo sessions a week + approx 100 other miles in communting / weekend rides.

Looks pretty similar to my stats from an Angels session!

If you wanna have a look at more of mine by the way, they're all here http://connect.garmin.com/explore?owner=jonxmack

As you can see I started doing Angels/DS, but recently have done FC and Revolver too, just finished Revolver for this evening but haven't upped it yet.

I'm no professional, but I've done all my training for the last 2 months based on these videos, and it doesn't seem to be doing me any harm. I know it's not the best way to do it, but i've definitely found myself improving. I'm also training to be doing 4th Cat racing.

    Thanks.

Love this one, http://connect.garmin.com/activity/61011952 , good uniformity. I've not got Revolver or Fight club, and looking at the above workout think Revolver will make an excellent addition!

    Whats your max HR?

    No problem.

I did Revolver again tonight, I'll get it up on connect tomorrow probably to check out, haven't looked at it properly yet as when i finished I went and collapsed in the bath!

It is difficult, really difficult. I got to interval 10 out of 16 today and my legs were really really hurting, I carried on as best I could but not sure how the stats are going to look.

My max HR last time I checked was 199.

EDIT: I put the latest Revolver up - http://connect.garmin.com/activity/61206524
