Hi Folks,

I know this must have been asked a squillion times before but..

Having been away from the bike scene for a few years and looking to get back into it. Can anyone recommend a decent all-round hardtail frame for ~£200. (Any thought on complete bikes welcome)

I'm looking to build somthing fun that can go up, as well as downhill.

I've been pondering over an on-one inbred/456? I see they do faily cheap framesets too.

Any advice welcome!

Thanks Guys.

  • OnOne frames are strong, have a good riding position and are good value. A good option for the money. 456 would be my choice.
    Be One Carbon Raw
    Specialized Stumpjumper FSR
    Giant TCR Alliance
  • You can pickup a second hand Cove Handjob for around that mark. That's what I did.

    Other options are ~200-250 new:
    - OnOne Scandal, 456 has already been mentioned, this is basically the lighter 100mm aluminium version
    - Ragley Blue Pig 130-140mm
    - Ragley Piglet 120mm

Cove do know how to make decent bikes though if you can afford it.

put the ragley mmmbop on that list too. Rahley really have got their frames dialed now. I wouldn't mind changing my frame to a Piglet in the future, they look nice.

I have just got an On-One 456 Summer Season for light DH riding. Not built it up yet but the frame looks well built. Nice, neat welds, neatly finished fabrication & a good quality paint job.
I'm building mine up with a u-turn fork so it should be good for climbing and a hooligan going downhill. On-One's customer service is also excellent.
The other 456 frames are probably better as an all round frame.
If you can afford it the Cotic BFe is also very nice, but nearly £400.

How hard will your DH riding be?

Not very, I dont plan on dropping off anything huge! But I'd still like the potential for a bit of gravity induced fun!

Maybe the basic On-One 456 would suit better instead of the Summer Season model in that respect.
