New Shimano 10speed with 'old' 9 speed RD?

I'd like to upgrade my old 9 spd Ultegra set up to a 10 speed to match my other bikes and make it easier to share wheels etc. I've found some well priced STI levers in recent Ultegra or 105 but am wondering if I can simply use the current RD?

From what I have read the 10 speed and 9 speed cassette are the same external dimensions so it should work fine when its all set up correctly, but just wanted to check with the experts here before I go for it?

I'm hoping all I need are the shifters, 10 speed chain & cassette and new cables - is this correct?

Thanks

Yes you can. The only items you must change are shifters, chain and cassette. Everything else will work fine.

thanks John - ordered it all up and have the 10 spd cassette already. Finally means an easy solution to running a Powertap wheel on 3 bikes with different GS om each one
