I really was interested! It's nice to see people using fast prime lenses.

Bright red's definitely a correct colour for a bike, also..!

Love fast primes. Also have a Zeiss 85/1.4, but there is not enough room in my study to shoot my new bike with that!

Yep. Everyone knows 'red' bikes go faster. Even 'google' agrees!

Re: Comment in your thread.. (and to save spoiling your thread)... not sure how well known Argos is known outside of Bristol, but this is the Argos...

Had my (previous) MTB frame sprayed there... can't recommend them enough. Their custom steel frames looked amazing (obviously not as nice as yours)

Me also. I live by my ancient Canon FD 50 f1.4... and I'm trying to ignore the recently announced Voigtlander 25mm f0.95 which fits my camera... luckily they're unavailable, so I'm fairly safe from drunken internet clickery.

Thanks for the nice comments. Argos are very well known- I think generally considered amongst the top UK framebuilders and finishers (NapD was joking..!). Have fun on your high speed bike!

[ thanks for all the kind comments all :) ]

Thought NapD was joking as Argos C seemed to be very popular on my visit (and the fact when I asked Merlin Cycles to delivery my frame there, they seemed to know Argos pretty well). But, I didn't know how highly rated they are.... just came across them by accident (as they are Bristol based)

I must admit, the paint and build Argos did on my MTB was amazing. Nothing OTT, but just a very subtle two colour paint job. Over the years I owned it, I got many comments on how nice it looked.

As for my racing bike... still haven't ridden it! Just been either too wet or icy. Have a mini duathlon (my first) in Feb, so need to get some training in. The upright gym bike isn't as enjoyable as riding a real bike :)

    Have a good Xmas!

  • Looks nice. Mine was posted last Monday and still hasn't arrived due to a backlog at the couriers. Damn the snow.
  • Mine arrived today. Very nice looking bike in the flesh and well built. I asked them to leave the steerer uncut, so that I can play about with stem height.

I did notice that I've been given a 53/39 SRAM chainset rather than the compact FSA originally spec'd - I'll just have to build up my leg strength.

Photography nowhere near as good as OP's

Congrats. Looks v nice - and I'm sure 'better in the flesh.'

tis' a lovely red. very 'famous italian sports car' kind of red.

Has a conversation about 'compact vs standard' discussion earlier in the week with a friend, but without actually riding a road bike for many years, it was not something that I have an opinion - yet!

Lets hope the snow disappears soon. Mines still looking too shiny!

It's now used and a bit dirty, but riding well. A few photos on the road..

Very nice shot, almost like one of those tilt-shift pics that were all the rage last year. Makes the bike look like a miniature! Also all of your shots make the tubes look much thinner than mine seem to be.

@Zachariah : Thanks. Not a simulated tilt and shift.. just shot at f1.4 :)

Another upgrade (just swapped to Conti GP Attack/Force for the summer)

Maybe a little too much image processing on this one lol

Have ordered some black tape for the bars... as (a) red gets dirty quickly & (b) think I've gone past the point of the bike being too red ;)
