Shimano 10 speed shifters

A mate of mine has (or had) 105 10 speed shifters on his bike (bought second hand so no warranty) and the left hand one has broken. If he's looking for replacements on eBay, will any Shinano 10 speed shifters with old-fashioned external cable routing work with 10 speed 105? E.g. Ultegra 6600/DA 7800?

    Yes they should be fine.

    if they're the new type then they haven't been out that long. I'd send them back to Shimano anyway.
