Do I need a spacer for my new cassette?
Hi Everyone,
Got a new cassette, Sram 10 speed PG1070. Straightaway I noticed it differed from the 9 speed sram cassette on my other bike in that it doesnt have the small screw that secures all the sprockets together tightly. So I fitted it anyway and tightened the lockring but there is plenty of play& rattle from the sprockets. What the solution, a spacer? I have Mavic wheels. Thanks, Rich.

10 speed cassette is narrower than 9 speed - you need a spacer - your LBS should have them.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

Yes, like wot he said.
Buy a Shimano 10sp cassette and it should come with the 10sp spacer, dunno about SRAM.
Your Mavic hub should already have a Mavic spacer - to run 10sp on it you'll need both
