"Why Does" Rear Mech Q

how comes a mates shiny new mondraker bouncy, that comes with regular 3 ring / cassette set up, gets away with a standard sram medium cage rear mech being fitted and not the "recommended" long cage???

they dont expect people to use big and big.

My Coiler came with a medium caged XT mech running 44/32/22 rings and 11/32 cassette. Replaced it recently with a medium cage SLX. No issues so far.0

I run a short cage with a triple and get away with only a small amount of slack in little little, which i avoid like the plague...0

he gets full range of gears with little slack with 44/32/22 rings and 11/32 like El Cap. It just never occurred to me that you could get away with it. I might well experiment meself when rear mech replacement time comes.0

I'm assuming the standard SRAM medium cage range (37T i think), it appears to be a regular x7/x9 (i'd have to check)0
