I bought a bike second hand about 2 weeks ago and it rode fine but yesterday the chain snapped so i today I bought a new chain and fitted it and straight away the chain slipped when i rode it i had a look and it only slips in the middle and big ring at the front but is fine on the small ring. it also doesn't change into the middle ring very well when i had it. I looked at the rings and they both look quite worn is this the problem or have i fitted the chain wrong?
thanx

Sounds like you need a new cassette and chainrings0

the rear cassette looks in good condition.
Can i just buy the chain rings sepratley?0 -
You can buy rings separately usually, yes. Depending on what crankset you have, some basic ones have riveted rings that you cannot replace.
If you do buy just the rings you may find the chain still slips because the cassette has worn to the old chain0 -
I have a shimano deore xt rear cassette and an lx crankset0

You should be able to replace the rings then, just make sure they fit0
