Width of city tyres?

I have a set of 26 x 1.50 wheels currently fitted.

I am looking to fit a set of city/road type tyres, could anyone please tell me how narrow I can go.
I really would like to get under 1.75 if possible.

    i guess you mean tyres not wheels and you are already under 1,75 with your 1,5 so what is the question?

    what are your rims?

    I have 2 distinct seperate components

    The first of which is the wheels; they are sized 26 x 1.50.

    The second component I am asking about, as per the thread title is the tyres.


    Now what I am hoping to achive here is place the 2nd component (tyres) on to the 1st component (the wheels).

    Now we have established that we know the wheel size is 26 x 1.50.

    What I am interested in is finding out the narrowest tyre size I can fit to these wheels (26 x 1.50)

    I currently have a 1.95 knobbly type tyre fitted, as stated I would ideally like to fit a narrower tyre than I currently have,,in my dreams it would actually be narrower than 1.75.

    are you sure your wheels are 1.5 inch wide?

    most XC type wheels are around 22 - 24 mm wide which is roughly 0.9 inches. So rim width of 1.5 seems far too big even for a downhill rim.

    Where are you getting the information for the rim size of 26x1.5 ? I would suggest that this would be the minimum size tyre that the rim supports and is a common minimum size for MTB wheels.

    Do you know the exact rim manufacturer and model? try searching on the interweb for technical documents on it?

    Hence my assumption/confusion over the 26 x 1.50 sizing?

    I had a quick search online, looks like its a XC type rim that specialized used to make.

    I would think the 26x1.5 is the min tyre size. but give Specialized UK call / email and ask for their help to make sure if you want. They've been very helpful to me in the past.
