Weird oscillation in front wheel

I have a very strange sensation of the front wheel oscillating under breaking on steep descents.

It's dura-ace wheels - not old, maybe 300 miles in them.

Spokes tight, headset tight, cant see any sign of a buckle - any one have any ideas?

Thanks
Simon

  • Very likely the hub worked itself loose and needs gentle tightening

Agree: loose or worn hub bearings
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

    Loose brake mounts/blocks?

  • Check your brake caliper is firmly bolted on? There's a lot of load on that bolt under high-speed braking.

  • Clean your braking surface and pads. I had this on my winter bike a few days ago. Think it might have been petrol or something. Cleaned them with alcohol wipes and it's all good again.
