Just opted for the Blur LT myself, loved the feel of the suspension and awesomely smooth ride and handling.

Havent ridden the 575 or Orange so cannot compare, sorry.

As your looking at the exotic stuff.....I would have none of the bikes you suggested...I would have an Ibis Mojo....every time I see these frames I drool !
http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/ ... m-10-39369 you can build one up around 27lbs and they are super tough...

Others well worth a look...Transition Covert and Bottle Rocket and Devinci Dexter and Hectik
Tomac Synper 140 Giant XTC Alliance 1
If the world was flat, I wouldn't be riding !

whyte 146 or a mojo would be great, very light, much better put together than the 5, the 575 and blur are great bikes, but imo the 146 and mojo out perform them in every area

I love my Yeti, it's a perfect all rounder, and I've ridden an Orange five, which is just as good, although with a different feel, and I was suprised how nimble my friends SC Blur LT was.. Not much help there then, but basically, these are all top end bikes, and any one of these bikes would do you proud in the Alps, lthough I wouldn't buy any without TALAS or similar up front, if you are doing long technical climbs.

On the yeti front, the new model is out next year with a sturdier carbon rear triangle, I've had no issues with mine but some people seem to think it's a week spot on current models.

Personally I'd also add the Turner 5 Spot into that group. I've got an old TNT one which I love and apparently the DW Linked versions are even better.

Got to be worth a look...

Otherwise, the Ellsworth Moment or Epiphany (can't remember which is their 5-6" frame) was very well received in the last boutique test I read a few months back..
