1) Do you think that there is a gap in the market for a frame mounted camera for any type of mountain biking?
Yes - the market is staurated

2) What sex are you?
Male

3) Are there any cameras already on the market for mountain biking?
Yes

4) If yes explain.
Just google it. From 12 quid.

5) What materials would you advise the camera to be made out off?
Whatever is offers best weight/strength ratio.

6) Where about on the frame would you mount the camera?
Headtube, bars or helmet

7) Would you like the camera to be..
Both

8 ) How big would you like the memory?
As long as possible - memory cards are cheap

9) How long would you like the battery life?
At least 2 hours

10) Should the camera be weatherproof?
Absolutely!

11) Should the camera be shock proof?
Yes

    Frame mounted cameras tend to jiggle about too much to see anything, theres a much greater market for helmet cams.

    To answer your questionaire, most of the questions have an obvious best answer, for example theres no great reason why you'd want it to have poor battery life.

    No, it a flooded market with everything from the cheap and basic to massively high resolution wide angle hi def.

    Where ever would give the best shot. Headtube, seatpost, seatstays, maybe even the downtube

    To be honest this would depend on the resolution of the camera. A replace SD card would be an advantage

    9) How long would you like the battery life?
    1-4 hours

    10) Should the camera be weatherproof?
    Yes No
    Think about your target market

    11) Should the camera be shock proof?
    Yes No
    Same as above

    What I would also like to point out is the camera should be easy to use whilst you aren't looking directly at it, easy to use with gloved fingers, light and have a stable mounting
    Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Epsilon.

    7:-just camera. they never take great stills the combi's
    8:-2-4gb
    9:-got to run for about 8 hours, this would prevent any issues arising with 4-5 hour rides not being captured and they are the norm.

    No, if I needed to I'd adapt a helmet cam but I can't see why I'd need to.

    Yes, lots.

    There are already a number of brands that make small digital video cameras suitable for mounting either on handlebars or helmets for mountain biking. Many commuter riders film every commute - see commuter forum.

    5) What materials would you advise the camera to be made out off?

    Any of those 3 could be produced with the required level of toughness.

    6) Where about on the frame would you mount the camera?

    Handlebars.

    7) Would you like the camera to be..

    Video

    8 ) How big would you like the memory?

    I'd like it to accept standard format storage such as micro SD(like my current cam does)

    9) How long would you like the battery life?

    1-4 hours

    Yes of course.

    I'd disagree with the cameras not being able to take good video and still photos. Have you seen the pictures on the Go Pro website?

    Yes No - but one with improvements

    Metal Plastic Composite All of them. Metal parts were needed but hidden beneath plastic and also possibly composite reinforcement in the plastic.

    I would want the option to mount it everywhere - bars, front of headtube, forks and on me

    Camera Video Both Although I am not to bothered about stills. Would just be nice to remove it for decent stills instead of carrying 2 cameras.

    8 ) How big would you like the memory?
    <1gb 1-2gb 2-4gb >4gb anything less is pointless and it costs nothing.

    <1hour 1-4 hours 4-8 hours >8 hours

    You should also consider GPS Geocaching as this could then log your route and it could overlay speed and altitude information.

    and possibly remote buttons for start/stop but these may end up being pressed accidentally - would be a nice add-on though for some people.

    And a big red LED so you know it is on that can flash when the battery is getting low. Also some low memory indication.

    No. Not a gap in the market, as there are already existing products out there, but there is a market.

    4) Mainly helmet cams, but these come with handlebar mounts and all sorts of other mounts.

    5) What materials would you advise the camera to be made out off?
    Metal and plastic. Prob magnesium to keep it light as I think thats what digi cams use, plus plastic/rubber to aid in water resistance.

    6) Where about on the frame would you mount the camera?
    Handlebars. Or if you can design a mount for the head tube that would be good. my mate gaffa taped his phone to his head tube and got a pretty good vid out of it. needs to be VERY stable and secure though.

    7) Would you like the camera to be..
    Both. Mainly video, but having an option for a photo being taken every 30secs/1 min would be pretty cool.

    8 ) How big would you like the memory?
    I'd say 2gb at least if you're talking about built in memory. Memory card is the easiest way to go though. My helmet cam has an onboard memory of 256mb or something stupid, but it's designed to be used with a card.

    9) How long would you like the battery life?
    Absolute minimum of 2 hours. I'd also say, don't use a built in battery, use normal AA or AAA batteries or a watch battery is possible. That way you can take spares with you out on the trails.

    10) Should the camera be weatherproof?
    Yes. Be a bit pointless otherwise!

    11) Should the camera be shock proof?
    Yes. Again, bit pointless if it isn't!
