difference between Hope Mini and Mono Mini??

Afternoon all!
been nosing at changing the brakes on the bike latey and have been looking at Mono Mini's,
are they any improvement over std Mini's??

(have an M4 caliper on its way for the front so will be running it on the back, )

    I find the Mono's easier to service because the pistons come out with less aggravation. On the Mini's they fit extremely snugly and the seals are very tight. I suppose that makes them less likely to leak around the seals, but I've never had that problem with Mono's.

    The Mini's only come in IS making rotor size choice a bit limited. However, it is only the later Mono's that come in post mount (the Mono 2's they are called), the black calipers with gold caps are all IS. (Someone will post a pic of a post mount Mini now! Even if that happens though, they are not common.)

    Most Mini's come with 6mm hoses which LBS's don't stock. Your local hydraulic pipe shop probably does though. You can buy new 5mm fittings anyway.

    ive got praided lines on my current hopes so would just swap the calipers over! :wink:
    got my eye on a couple calipers, so will have a deeper nose and investigate!!

    Its funny, I had C2s years ago, amazing brakes, then I got some Minis again really good brakes with a better leaver.

    Then I got a M4 mono, still a reasonably good brake but not as good as the other two.

    Now I have some Avid Juicy 3's now I know these are not supposed to be the best but I think they are brilliant, great modulation power and trouble free, only gripe is the front disk size is a little small at 160, but easily sorted (suspect that more to do with Commencal than Avid).

    The mechanic in my LBS said Hopes are not as good as hey used to be.

    I found the old minis (2 part caliper) to suffer from seperation of the 2 halves when braking hard, leading to a leak between the caliper halves.. not uncommon, monos better..

    thanks all, have managed to get another M4 caliper for a good price so will have a play when they arrive,
    will run an M4 up front for sure but tempted to keep a mini on the back!, will see how i get on!!!
