Swiss Stop Brake Squeal

Just fitted some SRAM Force 2010 brakes to my Canyon. They come with Swiss Stop pads.

Riding Sunday the front set developed an awful squealing at the front. This happens at about mid pull.

Both pads are hitting the rim together.

Any ideas?

Are they angled in/out incorrectly? The edge of the pad towards the front of the bike should touch the rim first.

On my old bike (with cheap callipers) the callipers bent slightly over time so you couldn't get the toe right. I'm out of ideas if that's not it though.

    I am to!

Wonder if is just the pads and once they bed in more it'll go.

As I say full on braking I don't get the squeal seems to be just at the biting point.

I know this isn't much help - but when they wear down a bit - the squeal stops.

You could try taking a bit of sandpaper to them to rough them up.

I've had this problem before and it always clears itself up quickly through wear.
  • I had Rival brakes with swisstop pads and found that they stopped sqealing with the pads level with the rim, i.e. not toed in.

I know this sounds bonkers to some, but the brakes/pads stopped very, very well with no noise!
