Had to catch the train this morning, so decided to try these BBs from Waterloo. No joy. The signs said that they were presently only available for use by those who'd joined up. Same all along my route (walking) along the South Bank.

Is that the same for all BB stations? I thought you could "pay and go".

  • The first period is only for those registered, this is to iron out the bugs in the new system. Once this has been done they will open it up to Pay and Go. The aim was to have it Pay and Go after about 12 weeks IIRC.

  • Casual use not expected until the end of the year now - I think they've had some software problems.
  • Why don't you join the scheme it's not expensive.

I visit London every few weeks and I';ve started to use the bikes.

They are so heavy but so much nicer than the tube.

+1. Only 3 quid for a key, and saves faffing every time you want a bike. The key arrived on next day delivery too. Can't fault it

My need is significantly less than that! :) I *hate* the trains and tubes, so I was going to run to work until I thought I try them out.

The problem is that I sweat like a crazy man, so journeys on these things aren't the most practical even when I need to travel across London.
