Where do London's abandoned bikes go?

Seen a few bikes with notices that they are going to be removed soon around where i live.

Does anyone know where they go? Just the dump?

    When I lived in Cambridge they held an auction at the police station every 3-4 months. Try ringing the police and asking?

    I've done some investigating (while i should be working...). I think it's a council issue rather than the police. Well, i found the contact details of a Council person that deals with abandoned bikes and sent them an email to ask. Apparently they have five people knocking about dealing with this.

    I wished that I lived near to Avonmouth because that police auction site has a Dr Who scooter, how cool is that? 8)

    Response from council:

    "They are stored for 1 month and then disposed of. I am sorry I cannot give you consent to take a bike as I don’t own it."
