Afternoon all

Noticed last night on the ride home that my recently fitted SLX cranks are creaking when put under pressure. TBH i dont know if they have been like this since i fitted them as i usually have music on when i ride.

Is this an indication of over or under tightening ? or do we think it could be BB related ?

The BB is 2nd hand.....

Cheers

    Ok, will try them all

    ta very much
  • Is the creak at the same point in pedal rotation every time? If so try removing the pedals and greasing the threads. I had this issue with my SLX cranks a while back and checked BB etc. I posted the issue on here and someone suggested the pedals. I greased the thread on the right pedal and noise gone. This week it started again - turned out it was the left pedal this time.

seems to be coming from both sides, but that could be my imagination

been eyeing up some new pedals anyway, so maybe its time

Maybe not your imagination! When I had the issue it was very definitely only on one side and the same point every pedal rotation. Sounds like maybe a different problem if it is both sides. Try the grease though - it's worth a shot and cheaper than new pedals
